Eight years before their wedding, Anastasia and Milan set aside a bottle of wine to open on the day they were finally married. They opened it at Harding Waterfront Estate in Mississauga, the 1937 Bell-Gairdner mansion that sits on Lake Ontario with Joshua's Creek along one edge.

A first look, vows on the lawn with the lake behind them, then the two of them alone with the bottle. Inside, tables were set in dusty blue and sage, blue and white chinoiserie plates layered under soft linen, pressed glass goblets, white garden roses, and small jars of preserves at every seat. Eight years is a long time to hold a promise, and the editorial portraits from that hour show two people who knew exactly what they were opening.
